Knitting pattern for Exit sweater by Hanne Falkenberg
In 2020, Hanne Falkenberg retired and sold her company, Hanne Falkenberg Design, to Önling. As part of this transition, her adult children entrusted us with a very special sweater—the last one Hanne had knitted herself. The sweater came without notes, as Hanne never got the chance to write down the pattern, but it was her wish for it to be called Exit Sweater, marking her exit from the knitting world.
Based on her original sweater, Katrine Hannibal and the Önling team interpreted and created a new version with an updated fit. After careful design and testing, Exit Sweater now stands as a beautiful tribute to Hanne Falkenberg’s long and remarkable career as a knitting designer. A chapter in Danish knitting history comes to a close, and we invite you to join us in celebrating Hanne Falkenberg’s outstanding contributions to the world of knitting.
The sweater features a classic, square pattern on the front and back, combined with elegant edge details on the sleeves and neckline. It can be knitted in Önling No 20 – Hanne Falkenberg’s classic Shetland wool – or Önling No 2, a soft and luxurious merino wool.
The pattern is a PDF file. Immediately after purchase you will be able to download the pattern directly from the purchase confirmation page. You will also receive an e-mail with a link to your pattern, and the pattern will be available here at the site via your personal account - so remember to create an account :-) .

Procedure
The sweater is worked from the bottom up, with set- in sleeves. Front and back pieces are worked back and forth, then the shoulders seams are joined together with 3 needle bind off. Stitches are picked up along the armhole, and the sleeves are worked top-down, first back and forth, and then in the round. Finally, stitches are picked up along the neckline, and a neat edge is knitted.
